Your Relationships 9: Renew Your Passion by Evelyn Ransom

Passion . . . leads you to thoughts of romance, love and hot and heavy sex. For me, those were my first thoughts as well. My husband is in Germany right now, so I didn't want to write about passion. Pick another topic.

That wasn't an option so I did what comes natural.

"Lord, you gotta help me!" Well that's what I said on the inside - not out loud. The Lord sent me this:

"If you want to renew your passion about something - anything - do what I did. Nothing."

I had to look at that a bit closer before I got it. And, then it was like being hit with a brick. Whenever Jesus had to renew himself; he retreated, alone and did nothing. He didn't build any tents, or visit relatives, have tea with friends, finish a project that was left for a better time, read books, watch TV--well you get the picture.

He was still. He was prayerful. He was resting. He was renewing--his mind, his body, his spirit, his energy, his soul.

If you feel like you need to be more passionate about a new business venture, your marriage, your church activities, the book you've been meaning to write, the curtains that haven't been hung yet; Just Stop!

Take a real break. Not a fake break; the "I'm-gonna-take-a-few-day-off-and-do-some-laundry-and-get-this-house-together-so-I-can-really-rest-break, or the "I'm-sick-so-I-will-rest-now-break." No kids, no TV, no spouse, no friends. Sleep. Eat. Think. Pray. Laugh. Cry. Shout. Repeat. And, yes you DO have time to take a break. Take sick days, vacation days, or I'm gonna hurt somebody days. Make the time.

Now you have the energy to jump back in the game. After a few days of rejuvenation, you will get that spark or creative idea and energy to go another round.

I'm off. I think I'm going to take a nap!
