| Your
Biz/Career 14: Giving
Back! by Sandra Wright |
|
Every holiday season,
we see "loads" of people and organizations
giving! Sometimes it seems as if it's just a phase to
make them feel warm and fuzzy during the season that
we give the most! However, than are many people that
have made sharing and giving a lifestyle. Here are some
inspirational instructions on giving and sharing from
leaders and business owners:
- The best way
to give is to give much, often and anonymously. When
you give anonymously, you give from your heart. Real
charity can happen at any given second. Charity is
not necessary money, but can be loaning someone your
car to look for a job, or giving someone a used (but
in good condition) sofa. If you have loads of money,
by all means your giving can be monetary.
- Let your first
dollar that you earn, be your first dollar that you
give away. When I think about biblical principles,
I think about giving of the "first fruits".
So give with a pure heart.
- One wise saying tells
us "Give a man a fish, and you will feed him for a
day, teach him how to fish you will feed him forever."
Teach others practical methods for achieving their goals
so that you can develop the full potential in another individual. Giving doesn't always have to be monetary, just do it!
- If you are in a position
of authority, become a role model and a mentor. Get involved
with something that will make an impact on someone's life.
- If you really want
to give, stand up for an unpopular cause. If you don't stand
for something, you'll you fall for anything.
- If you're looking
truly for a way of giving back, provide someone with a vision
and become a catalyst in helping them realize that vision.
- If you've made more
money than you can spend, don't hoard it...give some back
- I once heard someone
say, "Life is a journey, and one thing's for sure:
You don't see many hearses with luggage racks on them. We
are privileged to be here, so instead of just using God's
resources, we should leave the place a little better than
we found it!"
